How to Fund Your Midwifery Education

We continue to add new scholarships to our repertoire daily. Please continue to check back to see what new scholarships we may have added.

Basic Midwifery Student Scholarships

Basic Midwifery Student Scholarships are awarded to midwifery students to support education expenses for the purpose of encouraging individuals to pursue or complete basic midwifery education, thereby increasing the number, quality and diversity of certified nurse-midwives and certified midwives. Several basic scholarships are given annually, including the following endowed scholarships: Midwives of Color-Watson Scholarship and the Edith B Wonnell CNM Scholarship. Memorial Scholarships are also awarded as funding allows. All applicants are judged on academic excellence, financial need and leadership potential criteria.

Basic Midwifery Student Scholarships funded via endowed scholarships with specific eligibility requirements include:

Midwives of Color-Watson Midwifery Student Scholarship - This is a Basic Midwifery Student Scholarship awarded to student midwives of color. The purpose of this scholarship is to increase the number of midwives of color through support of scholarship awards, thereby increasing the number, quality and diversity of certified nurse-midwives and certified midwives.

Edith B. Wonnell CNM Scholarship - This Basic Midwifery Student Scholarship awarded to student midwives who intend to work in an out-of-hospital setting (birth center or home birth) upon graduation. The purpose and award criteria are identical to the Basic Student Scholarship.
